Who We Are
Zakat (alms) is the name of what a believer returns out of his or her wealth to the neediest of Muslims for the sake of the Almighty Allah. It is called Zakat because the word Zakat is from Zakaa which means, to increase, purify and bless.
Allah the Most High legislated Zakat as a major source of revenue for the welfare of ummah. It was legislated to cater for some of the neediest sections of the ummah.
A substantial portion of Zakat is collected by the organizations, Madarasas and dawah centers out of which a major share never reaches the concerned people. It is either siphoned off by the middlemen or is spent on non-essentials.
DIRECT ZAKAT MOVEMENT is the brainchild of people from Hyderabad who are worried about the future of this Ummah and want to do their bit in making sure that the charity that is given reaches the neediest people. Our mission is to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor by eliminating the middlemen, we envision a society where the rich don’t just get richer but they help in the upliftment of the poor as well, which is the core of why we give Zakat.
The main problem that we have identified is that we do not know who the poor or needy person is and so we satisfy ourselves with just giving charity without really knowing where it’s going or weather its reaching the right person or not.
We want you to know where your charity goes and for what its being spent so that you rest assured in the knowledge that the neediest are being helped by your contribution.
